Reviews

AudioFile Magazine...
Dragons aren't such bad creatures, are they? Bruce Coville turns fantasy on its ear in this story of Edward, an apprentice to a sorcerer of mediocre abilities. In order to help his mentor, Edward faces a rather underwhelming dragon, among other adventures. The story is narrated by young actor Ryan Sparkes, who gives an enthusiastic performance as Edward. His youthful exuberance carries the innocence of a bygone age and may remind older listeners of the sort of boy heroes that populated late-50s and early-60s children's films, or, say, "Leave It to Beaver." This energy adds to the Coville's light-handed humor. Also featured in the cast are Robert Steingraber as Moongobble the Magician, David Baker as Urk, the talking toad, and Sam Goldsman as the Rusty Knight. S.E.S. (c) AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine
